CHALLENGE

Create an original cinematic brand story for ShadeX smart glasses that introduces ambient wearable tech through emotional worldbuilding instead of traditional advertising tropes.

PROCESS

As someone who is into tech gadgets, I’ve always wanted to explore the idea of creating my own version of smart glasses. Inspired in part by the aesthetic and UX of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, as well as sci-fi narratives like Blade Runner 2049 and Black Mirror. I developed a grounded, moody narrative following a lone female runner in a futuristic city. Using AI tools including Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and Kling, I designed key visuals and transitions that simulate the interface of the ShadeX glasses, including real-time overlays, ambient UI effects, and audio-reactive visuals. Motion design, color treatment, and titling were executed in After Effects, with a focus on cinematic minimalism. The result is a world that feels tactile, emotive, and transportive.

RESULTS

The finished brand film is an original short that positions ShadeX as a premium, visionary product—one that exists at the intersection of personal identity, ambient tech, and storytelling. There are no traditional product shots or overt voiceovers; instead, the film builds intrigue through atmosphere and tone. The project serves as a proof of concept for how future-facing products can be introduced through worldbuilding, closing with the line: “See in the dark.”
